FDCU Welcomes Faculty Member and Exchange Students from Boston University to Strengthen the Relation Between Institutions

From 25 to 29 August 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, welcomed four 4th-year exchange students from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston University, USA, accompanied by Dr. Theodore Nelson, Instructor of General Dentistry. The purpose of this exchange program was to observe and learn from the clinical and departmental operations of the Faculty.

On the first day, staff from the Department of International Affairs guided the exchange group on a visit to the Faculty’s museums, including the Vach Vidyavaddhana Museum and the Museum of the Human Body, followed by a tour of the Faculty buildings and facilities to support their stay during the program. After the tour, the visitors were joined by faculty members for a welcome lunch before beginning their observational activities.

Throughout the program, the exchange students and Dr. Nelson visited and observed various units, including:

  • Operative Dentistry Laboratory
  • Pediatric Dentistry Clinic
  • Occlusion Clinic
  • Operating Room
  • Oral Surgery Clinic

They also participated in activities with the King’s Mobile Dental Unit at Baan Pak Kret, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, where they observed dental care services provided by Chulalongkorn’s graduate dental students.

Furthermore, on 28 August, the exchange students and Dr. Nelson delivered a presentation on “Students’ Life in Boston University”, sharing their experiences and offering insights into dental education for interested participants. On this occasion, Professor Dr. Pornchai Jansisyanont, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, presented certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to the exchange students, and souvenirs to Dr. Nelson.

The Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, and the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston University, have jointly organized exchange programs under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a yearly basis. These initiatives have consistently received positive feedback, owing to their effective activities and systematic support for visiting exchange students. The 2025 program marks another important milestone in strengthening the partnership and fostering closer ties between the two institutions.
