Center of Excellence in Skeletal Disorders and Enzyme Reaction Mechanism
Ultimate Goal
The ultimate goal of our Center of Excellence in Skeletal Disorders and Enzyme Reaction Mechanism is to foster interdisciplinary and collaborative works that lead to facilitate the understanding of skeletal biology, the discovery of disease mechanism and the effect of cannabinoid compounds on anti-inflammatory effect in bone cells. Our group will provide the expertise, state-of-the-art resources, and the training necessary to promote cutting edge skeletal and enzyme mechanistic study research.
Objective
- Characterization of skeletal phenotype in genetically modified mice and pathophysiology of osteoporosis and periodontitis and treatment.
- To study the immune responses in diseases related to bone and joints eg. osteoarthritis and the immune role of chondrocytes, which are target cells for destruction in certain joint diseases
- To study the method for optimization of condition for high yield of expression of Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) synthase in yeast system and inhibition of THCA on anti-inflammatory effect in osteoblasts
- To promote education by training undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellow whose interests are in skeletal biology and inflammation.

Assoc. Prof. Sutada Lotinun, PhD
Profile
Sutada Lotinun is the Director of the Center of Excellence in Skeletal Disorders and Enzyme Reaction Mechanism. She has extensive experience in bone biology. She spent 15 years working in US at Mayo Clinic, Yale and Harvard. She received numerous international awards during her career. She will meet with members to discuss projects and facilitate their success in seeking support from extramural grants.
Prof. Jeerus Sucharitakul, D.D.S, PhD
Profile
Jeerus Sucharitakul assists the director for targeting protein purifications, and physical biochemistry. He has several international publications in enzyme kinetic field. He works on mechanistic study of the flavoproteins involved in medical aspect such as THCA synthase.
Asst. Prof. Rangsima Reantragoon, MD, PhD
Profile
Rangsima Reantragoon is a T cell immunologist and has had experience in publishing in high impact factor journals including J Exp Med, and Nature. She will bring her experience in immunology to the musculoskeletal field, especially in osteoarthritis, where immune-mediated mechanisms have been underappreciated.
