Our Mission
The Faculty of Dentistry recognizes the importance of the potential of our dental graduates to serve society in public health services. Therefore, we collaborate with the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University to enhance the capabilities of dental graduates in health administration. This collaboration enables graduates to apply their skills in public dental health services, thereby elevating the standards of dental health services in the country, contributing to sustainable overall public health improvement.
History of the Program
The Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, is a leader in the field of dentistry in Thailand. We focus on producing graduates, knowledge, and innovations for sustainable societal development. Our key mission is to produce dentists to enter both private and public healthcare systems, particularly under the Ministry of Public Health, to provide oral health care services at the individual, community, and national levels.
The Faculty of Dentistry recognizes the importance of enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of dental students in public health administration. Therefore, we collaborate with the College of Public Health Sciences to develop the capabilities of dental graduates in health administration. This collaboration enables graduates to apply their skills in public dental health services, thereby elevating the standards of dental health services in the country. It also contributes to sustainable overall public health improvement.
The College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, is an institution that focuses on developing healthcare professionals’ knowledge and skills to improve the healthcare system at the community, national, and international levels. It aims to equip professionals with system-wide problem-solving skills and the ability to apply modern knowledge in management and research for development, leading to the resolution of national and international public health issues, including disease prevention and sustainable public health promotion.
In order to facilitate clear cooperation and joint operations based on the mutual desire of both institutions, the Dual-Degree Program of Dentistry and Public Health (DDS-MPH) has been developed between the Faculty of Dentistry and the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University.
Objectives
- To foster long-term collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry and the College of Public Health Sciences in the development of the dual-degree program.
- To produce dental graduates equipped with knowledge and skills in both dentistry and public health sciences.
- To promote collaboration in conducting research in dental public health and related disciplines.
- To encourage collaboration in other academic activities aimed at promoting the development of public health and public health sciences at the community, national, and international levels.
- To foster cooperation between departments to develop Chulalongkorn University into a leading university in the country and region, dedicated to producing academically and researching excellent graduates.

Student Qualifications
- Fourth-year dental students at Chulalongkorn University conducting graduate-level research projects in groups of 1-2 students, and faculty members of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, who voluntarily apply to serve as advisors in the Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH).
- Students must initiate research projects in dental public health starting from the fourth year and the fifth year, which are then developed into master’s theses in collaboration with advisors from the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University. Thesis development is jointly evaluated by advisors from both institutions. Each student enrolling in this program must have one graduate level research project.
- For example, if a group of two students participate in a research project, each student who chooses to enroll in the Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH) is required to develop a separate master’s thesis of their own.
- Students must submit applications and concept papers for selection interviews to enroll in the Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH) at the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, during the second semester of their fifth year of study.
- Students must achieve English language proficiency according to the criteria (CU-TEP > 45) before applying for the Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH). It is recommended to take the CU-TEP examination during the second semester of the fifth year.
- Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPAX) of at least 3.00 from the first to the fifth year before applying for the Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH).

Career Opportunities After Graduation
For specialized roles, one can work in fields related to public dental health, general public health, and any position requiring a master’s degree, regardless of specialization, as specified by the employing organization. Graduates of The Dual-Degree Program (DDS-MPH) will obtain both undergraduate and graduate degrees. When applying for jobs, they will have a greater chance of being selected for positions in government agencies or other health-related organizations compared to those inclined to pursue further education in the future.
