Momentous Milestone: Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University Welcomes Exchange Students from Showa University

From March 31 to April 11, the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, welcomed four sixth-year exchange students from the School of Dentistry, Showa University. The students visited and observed activities at various dental clinics and departments within the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University.

On the first day of the program, the exchange students visited the Vach Vidyavaddhana Museum and were warmly welcomed by Professor Tagami Junji and Assistant Professor Dr. Uraiwan Chokechanachaisakul, Department of Operative Dentistry, who introduced the exchange students Chulalongkorn University and the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University.

Following this, Professor Dr. Pornchai Jansisyanont, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, met with the exchange students to offer a warm greeting and present them with souvenirs before the official start of their clinical visits.

Within two weeks of the program, the exchange students observed and participated in activities at various clinics and departments, including:

• Operative Dentistry Laboratory
• Oral Surgery Outpatient Department Clinic
• Digital Dentistry Unit
• Radiology Clinic
• Endodontics Laboratory
• Orthodontics Clinic
• Oral Surgery Clinic
• Prosthodontics Clinic
• Pediatric Dentistry Clinic
• Operating Room
• Operative Dentistry Clinic
• Endodontics Clinic

Additionally, the exchange students from Showa University had the opportunity to participate in a King Mobile Dental Unit at Baan Pakkret, Pakkret District, Nonthaburi, where they observed dental treatment sessions conducted by graduate students.

The exchange program was not limited to activities within the Faculty of Dentistry; it also introduced the students to get to know Chulalongkorn University as a whole. The Showa University students joined exchange students from King’s College London, who visited the faculty for the exchange program during 8-11 April, 2025, in touring the Chulalongkorn University campus on April 8, 2025.

At the conclusion of the program, Associate Professor Dr. Rangsima Sakoolnamarka, Associate Dean for International Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Social Communities, presented certificates of participation to the exchange students as an official acknowledgment of their participation.

Previously, the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, had sent dental students to participate in an exchange program at the School of Dentistry, Showa University during the 2024 academic year. Therefore, the visit of the Showa University exchange students marks an important milestone in strengthening academic collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, and Showa University. The Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University is sending two fifth-year dental students to participate in an exchange program at Showa University during the upcoming semester break.

Sixth-year students who had previously participated in the exchange program at Showa University last year, along with fifth-year students who are scheduled to join the program this year, took the exchange students from Showa University on a trip and shared a meal together to foster good relationships between them
