Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine and Digital Health, Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, is a leading research hub pioneering the integration of genomics, bioinformatics, and precision medicine in the study of dentistry, craniofacial structures, and oral-maxillofacial biology. Led by Professor Dr. Thantrira Porntaveetus, the Center is committed to revolutionizing personalized oral healthcare through innovative research and high-impact academic collaborations.
Research Directions of the Center
Multi-omics of Craniofacial and Musculoskeletal Disorders :
The Center investigates genetic factors and employs multi-omics approaches to study disorders related to craniofacial and skeletal structures, such as skeletal dysplasia, osteogenesis imperfecta, craniosynostosis, tooth agenesis and supernumerary teeth, as well as rare genetic syndromes that are difficult to diagnose. The research emphasizes elucidating the underlying molecular mechanisms of these conditions, with the ultimate goal of advancing more accurate diagnostics and developing effective therapeutic strategies.
Personalized Dentistry and Biomarkers :
Identifying genetic and molecular biomarkers to advance precise diagnosis and targeted treatment of oral diseases. The research also explores disease mechanisms to enable the development of more effective personalized therapeutic approaches.
Artificial Intelligence in Dental Diagnostics :
Applying artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning to develop advanced tools for dental imaging analysis and disease prediction. These technologies aim to improve accuracy and efficiency in diagnosis, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
Oral Microbiome and Systemic Health :
Investigating the relationship between the oral microbiome and systemic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. A deeper understanding of these connections will help inform holistic approaches to healthcare.
Innovative Biomaterials and Regenerative Dentistry :
Developing novel biocompatible materials and advanced tissue engineering for dental restoration and implants. The research emphasizes enhancing durability and treatment effectiveness, with the goal of improving patients’ quality of life.
