Center of Excellence for Regenerative Dentistry
Center of Excellence for Regenerative Dentistry dedicates to the development of technologies and clinical therapies for craniofacial repair and regeneration.
Center of Excellence for Immunopathological/Clinical Research in Periodontal Disease
Immunopathological / Clinical Research in Periodontal Disease was established in 2011. Research grant support lso came from Chulalongkorn Academic Advancement into Its 2nd Century Project and Thailand Research Fund. Recently, the RU has been promoted to be the Center of Excellence (CE) in Periodontal Disease and Dental Implant (April 2020) with the support of Ratchadapisek Somphot Endowment Fund and the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. Our center aims to prevent and provide best treatment using innovative technology platform for periodontal disease and peri-implant disease. Our research focus in 3 areas as follows. 1. Periodontal disease and systemic diseases. 2. Oral health promotion and healthy aging. and 3. A novel mRNA therapeutics for periodontal regeneration for periodontitis patients and dental implant.
Research Unit of Genomics and Precision Dentistry Research Unit
The Genomics and Precision Dentistry Research Unit (GPDRU) in collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Medical Genomics and Medial Genomics Cluster, Chulalongkorn University, has integrated Medicine, Dentistry, Biological Science, and Engineering in research, academics, and health care. Our team focuses on investigating connective tissue disorders and oro-dental diseases, and providing medical services for patients with brittle bone diseases, skin disorders, cleft palate, tooth structure anomalies, tooth agenesis, supernumerary teeth, gingivitis, and periodontitis which affect physical health and quality of life.
Research Unit of Dental Stem Cell Biology
Dental Stem Cell Biology Research Unit focuses on the cell and molecular biology of stem cells isolated from dental and oral tissues. Mainly, the research aims to elucidate the regulatory pathways controlling stemness maintenance and osteo/odontogenic differentiation. Research Unit is extensively working on Notch, Wnt, TGF, and FGF signaling in various stem cells, including dental pulp stem cells, periodontal ligament stem cells, stem cells isolated from human exfoliated deciduous teeth, stem cells isolated from apical papilla, and induced pluripotent stem cells.
Research Unit of Oral Microbiology and Immunology
Research Unit on Oral Microbiology and Immunology was established in the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University to support basic and applied research in the field of microbiology and immunology related to dental and public health issues. The RU supports research activities of our members and collaborations with clinical departments and other institutions to generate new knowledge, innovations and applications related to oral microflora and pathogens, host response and inflammation, and infection control in dental clinics. We also provide trainings in oral microbiology and immunology to students both in the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research Unit of Exocrine Gland Biology and Regeneration
Exocrine Gland Biology and Regeneration (CU-EGBR) is a STAR research group aiming to advance the understanding and treatment of ageing-related disorders that affect salivary glands and other exocrine glands in humans and animals.
Research Unit of Skeletal Disorder Research
The ultimate goal of the Skeletal Disorders Research Unit is to find novel strategies for the development of therapeutic treatments for osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. Understanding the mechanisms of bone related diseases requires a multidisciplinary approach. Our team has expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, histomorphometry, genetics, and pathophysiology. All members were well trained aboard and have many high impact factor international publications in their record. We have collaborated with a well-known scientist at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Research Unit of Integrative Immuno-Microbial Biochemistry and Bioresponsive Nanomaterial
Research Unit on Oral Microbiology and Immunology was established in the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University to support basic and applied research in the field of microbiology and immunology related to dental and public health issues.
Research Unit of Oral Diseases
The Research Unit in Oral Diseases focuses on research in oral diseases in Thai patients to gather information about oral lesions for a new knowledge for Thai people. In-depth applied research on the diagnosis and pathogenesis of the diseases, as well as their treatment to improve the patients’ quality of life are performed. The research unit focuses on common oral lesions, systemic disease-related oral lesions, potentially malignant disorders, and oral cancer as well as trigeminal neuralgia and burning mouth syndrome.
