Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panida Thanyasrisung is a faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and a researcher at the Center of Excellence on Oral Microbiology and Immunology. Her areas of expertise include oral biofilms, alternative antimicrobial agents, and the development of novel strategies for the prevention and treatment of dental caries. Her research is highly interdisciplinary, integrating microbiology, chemistry, and materials science to translate basic scientific knowledgeinto clinically applicable solutions. Dr. Thanyasrisung’s notable works include studies on the role of microbial interactions within oral biofilms in caries development, the salivary microbiome for early caries risk prediction in young children, and the application of biomaterials for microbial control. She has published extensively in high-impact international journals across various fields, such as Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Oral Microbiology, Scientific Reports, PLoS ONE, Carbohydrate Polymers, and ACS Applied Nano Materials. She is particularly interested in oral microbiology research, with a focus on both fundamental and applied aspects of dental caries prevention and treatment. Her basic research explores the mechanisms underlying caries development, while her applied work involves the development of antimicrobial dental materials for clinical use.
