Program overview

Our program in Prosthodontics at Chulalongkorn University is one of the best programs in the country. This program prepares all post graduate students to become excellence in the field of prosthodontics research and patients’ cares. Students will be familiarized with prosthodontics principles and advanced digital dentistry. Our program integrated biological knowledge to the prosthodontics mechanic to create biomimicry treatment concept.

This program offers the supportive learning experience in both conventional and digital dentistry. The didactic curriculum includes discussion of the classical articles and seminar in recent knowledge. We provide digital workflow from fixed restorations to complete dentures. Interdisciplinary treatment planning is encouraged in the program to provide the best standard of care for patients in the program. Students will be exposed to geriatric dentistry, maxillofacial prosthodontics and full mouth rehabilitation. We also present the positive 2-way learning experience for life-long learning goal.

Message from director

Welcome to the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. The Master and PhD courses of Prosthodontics were established more than 20 years. There are 18 full time staff and another 30 part-time staff in our department. The Master course was created to educate dentists who love to learn from the basic Prosthodontics concept through the advanced level and then develop their skill in practice in this field. Our clinic has a long waiting list of Prosthodontics rehabilitation needs patients from single crown restoration, single implant, multiple site crown or implant to the partial edentulous patients. Also these days as people still keep their natural teeth, we still have the chance to take care of those patients with total edentulous ridge. Recently, the new and higher education of Digital Dentistry concepts and skills are also introduced and conducted.

From its first class of some students in Prosthodontics postgraduate program, our master and PhD program have grown steadily over the past 20 years. Our department is one of the Nationwide famous. In recent years, our master and PhD student have done their research with many of the International publications. Some further their career as the full time instructors in the leading university both Public and Private sectors in Thailand while some be the professional Prosthodontists in Private sectors.

Prosthodontics is a challenging profession that combines a high degree of manual dexterity and precision with a thorough understanding of basic Prosthodontics and some other dental and medical related fields knowledge, and excellent communication skills. Prosthodontist is the leader of the oral rehabilitation team and can diagnose and carry out treatment planned to each patient’s oral needs especially for oral rehabilitation.

If you are considering a career as Prosthodontist, you should be prepared for life-long learning to maintain your practicing standards.

As a graduate there are opportunities for full-time or part-time work in Thailand and opportunities include private specialist practice, academic careers, or hospital-based practice.

We are welcome new postgraduate level student applicant in every year from December of that year till February of the next year.

Career possibilities

Master degree and Ph.D. program in Prosthodontics are designed to prepare students for a career in teaching and research and also for advanced training in the rehabilitation of completely edentulous, partially edentulous patients and patients requiring maxillofacial prosthesis. 

The goal of Prosthodontics residency program is to provide advanced education in prosthodontics to highly qualified graduate dentists who are interested in a career or specialized practice, teaching &research.
