Assistant Professor Dr. Dusit Nantanapiboon is interested in research on oral healthcare for head and neck cancer patients, with a focus on operative dentistry, restorative treatment, and caries prevention. These studies address complications resulting from radiotherapy and chemotherapy, such as xerostomia and structural damage to teeth and oral tissues. To date, rasearch related studies have been published in international journals, and additional projects are currently underway to further improve clinical protocols for this patient group. Research in the field of synthetic biomaterials has also been pursued, particularly the development of hydroxyapatite for bone and dental tissue replacement, as well as its application in oral care products like toothpaste and mouthwash. Emphasis has been placed on optimizing the composition to closely resemble natural enamel and dentin. Some findings have already been published, and further innovations are in progress with potential for intellectual property registration. In the area of digital dentistry, current research focuses on the application of advanced technologies such as 3D intraoral scanning, digital shade matching, and 3D printing for customized dental restorations. These investigations aim to validate the precision and clinical feasibility of digital tools. Several studies have been internationally published, with follow-up projects supporting broader implementation in clinical practice.
