Dr. Sireerat Sooampon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology with a research interest in the development of dental products. Her work focuses on creating innovative solutions that meet clinical needs, particularly for products that are scarce in the domestic market or are expensive due to importation. Her aim is to expand access to effective and affordable alternatives within the country. One of her notable achievements includes driving the registration of a petty patent and facilitating the production and commercialization of a fluoride mouthwash containing trehalose. This product is designed to help prevent dental caries and enhance oral moisture, making it especially suitable for elderly patients experiencing dry mouth due to underlying health conditions or radiation therapy. In addition, she is actively involved in research on the rational drug use in dentistry. Her work explores dental practitioners' knowledge and attitudes toward prescribing, as well as common patterns of inappropriate drug use in clinical practice. These insights are used to inform curriculum development, reduce antimicrobial resistance, and promote optimal patient safety.
