Message from director
Oral Medicine is the specialty of dentistry associated with the examination, diagnosis, and management of patients with soft tissue diseases in the oral cavity, oral potentially malignant disorders, and orofacial pain. Optimal oral and dental care for patients with systemic conditions also fall within the scope of Oral Medicine. Presently, there remains a scarcity of specialized dentists in this field, failing to meet societal demands. To address this gap, the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University offers a range of programs tailored to meet student needs and cultivate graduates with expertise in Oral Medicine. These programs aim to foster advanced research and knowledge development in Oral Medicine on both national and international levels. Additionally, they strive to instill high standards of quality, ethics, and professionalism among students. There are three main programs available:
- Master of Science Program in Oral Medicine: This two-year program focuses on the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with Oral Medicine conditions.
- Higher Graduate Diploma in Clinical Sciences Program in Oral Medicine (International Program): This three-year program also includes education and training in Oral Pathology and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
- Residency Training Program in Oral Diagnostic Sciences: This three-year program enables graduates to pursue a career in General Dentistry with specialized knowledge in Oral Diagnosis.
The Department of Oral Medicine has a team of highly qualified faculty members and top-notch facilities for both teaching and research purposes. It also serves as a regional referral hub for patients, aligning with the goals set forth by each program.
