Highlights:
This curriculum is designed to equip graduating students with a strong foundation in Endodontics, enabling them to conduct meaningful research within the field. Additionally, this course empowers graduates to innovate and create new devices and materials specifically tailored for effective utilization in root canal treatment. The primary objectives of this curriculum are to advance the existing body of knowledge, elevate the standards of care, and foster effective knowledge dissemination within the field.
Course Background
Due to the relatively limited number of experts in advanced Endodontics at the graduate level, compared to other branches of dentistry, the demand for individuals with knowledge and skills in this field remains high, especially for university professors who can teach and conduct research in Endodontics, as well as specialized professionals in both public and private dental institutions.
To meet this demand, the Department of Operative Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, has implemented a Master’s degree program in Endodontic Science since 2000. This curriculum is being regularly updated to keep up with the latest scientific advancements and developments in the field.
Principles and Rationale
Due to the multidimensional nature of dental education, encompassing academic studies, researching, and specialized professional practice, there is an increasingly critical need to cultivate graduates who possess extensive knowledge and expertise in Endodontics. These graduates should be capable of conducting thorough examinations, making accurate diagnoses, devising effective treatment plans, providing comprehensive patient care, especially in root canal treatment, and contributing to research endeavors in the field of Endodontics.
